Not safe for animals. The dumb cane actually got it's name from the temporary speechlessness that occurs after chewing a piece of the stem. Oxalates and other substances can cause an irritation in the throat and mouth leaving people mumbling for hours.
Though the plant is not safe to eat, obviously, it is wonderful to look at it and rests on many coffee tables and kitchen counter tops across the world. The dark green tint engulfing the ever brighter center pairs well with our terra-cotta pots.

Water: Keep the soil continuously moist throughout spring and summer by spraying the soil and water once a week
