We're so excited to launch Luna & Soul Co. candles in our shop. Today, we'd like to introduce you to Jaimie & Victoria, the two amazing women behind Luna & Soul and their inspiration behind this San Diego small business.
What inspired you to start your business?
Luna and Soul started through gathering with sisters, and celebrating ourselves monthly during the new and full moons. Not only did Jaimie and I enjoy our monthly ritual but we really saw the power of unity, reflection and intention setting. Every month, we did a specific ritual where we'd have our handmade candles burning and we'd sit and write all that we wanted to release, and on a separate piece of paper, all that we were calling into our life for this next moon cycle. Once we started to feel the magic of our candle creations, we decided to share our magic with the rest of the world by making candles for use during your meditation.
What has been the most enjoyable part of your small business?
Creating the candle scents and putting together a formula of crystal healing, aroma therapy and herbal wisdom was so much fun to do together. We really enjoy making these candles with intent and so much love. Another favorite part has definitely been seeing our fellow light workers, enjoy our candles and use them for their full moon ritual.
Did you see yourself owning a small business?
We both always knew we wanted something beyond the typical lifestyle. Having a small business together was very unexpected yet, very beautiful and expanding as individuals. We're excited and grateful to be the parents of luna and soul.
What's the best way to use your candles to derive all of their benefits?
Each candle has a different energy to it, all in service of the user's highest good. We find them especially useful during meditations, and we include affirmations for each candle that people can say internally or aloud during their meditations to help amplify the energy of the candle and individual combined. We will be releasing different meditations and intention setting rituals on our website blog coming soon. Although we think its powerful to use them during meditation, feel free to use them to fill your space with beautiful smells, the candles alone have an amplified energy, so there's no need to always sit down and go deep with them. Lighting them alone will uplift your spirits.

Which candle is your favorite?
Jaimie- Intention!!! I love the sweet and soft scent, and the crystals on top! They're all so beautiful, but that one is my favorite.
Victoria- I also love Intention, its such a powerful candle, and not to mention it smells amazing.
What activity is your favorite to practice mindfulness?
Jaimie- Meditation most definitely. It doesn't have to be a drawn out, 20-minute meditation. Sometimes I feel so busy that I can't even set aside 20 minutes. But what serves me especially on those days is to focus on my breath as I am in action- driving, working, etc. Inhaling peace, exhaling calm.
Victoria- I love to journal. there's nothing like pulling out all of the clutter in your head and writing it down on paper. It's so nice to just let your hand write your thoughts out and experience them in a different kind of way. Such a good way to reflect and transcend.
Any tips on how to practice mindfulness in 2021?
Jaimie- I think mindfulness can be practiced in the most simple ways. Focus on our breath, finding stillness and creating presence in moments that we feel rushed or inevitably stressed. Having compassion for all parts of ourselves, even the critical, judgmental parts and what that will allow us more compassion for others, which the world could always use more of.
Victoria- I agree with Jaimie, mindfulness shouldn't be complicated. It's a matter of seeing how present you can allow yourself to be in the moment. Moment by moment. I like to practice intentional mindfulness by doing a bit of self reflection at the end of each day. I reflect on the feelings, thoughts, situations, interactions, and occurrences that happened that day, sometimes I journal about it and sometimes I just sit there and visualize my day.
Go ahead and start your day off with positive intentions and manifest the life you want, starting with our new Luna & Soul Candles.
