All our products are sourced, derived, and assembled in the United States, and each bag is hand packed in San Diego, CA out our tiny packing barn. We work closely with our soil partner Great Soil LLC to give all our retail partners the highest quality products at the lowest possible cost. All our products are sourced directly from suppliers and never repurposed.

We believe in the Redwoods! The main ingredient we use for potting mixes is triple ground redwood. This incredible product is derived from the husks of redwood trees in Northern California at sustainably managed mills. Redwood products in California are governed by strict sustainability initiatives set forth by the  Sustainable Forestry Initiative (SFI) and the Forest Stewardship Council (FSC). Not only does redwood Trees grow fast, but it is also has magical ability to absorb nutrients unlike any other amendment.  Most houseplants absorb nutrients optimally when the soil PH is slightly acidic. Our blend lands perfectly on the PH spectrum for nutrient absorption. Triple ground redwood should be on every potting mixes labels and we are just lucky enough to have figured it out first. 

The main difference between our Houseplant Mix and our Cactus and Succulent Mix is the proliferation of our soil amendments. Unlike most potting mixes purchased at big box stores we do not skimp out on soil amendments. These vitally crucial ingredients provide a number of important things for the soil 1) They improve drainage 2) aerate the potting mix 3) maintain structure over time as soil gets compacted 4) and finally insulate the soil from changing weather conditions. While you will notice we use a considerable amount of amendments in each of our mixes we add the most to our Cactus and Succulent Mix. The reason for this has to do with the roots. Cactus and Succulents have a unique ability to retain moisture for long periods of time. If they are continuously exposed to water in the potting mix they may not be able to handle that amount of liquid provided and the excess water can pocket in the soil. The pocketing of water mixed with anaerobic conditions (without oxygen) causes bacteria to form and eat away at the roots. This process will surely kill the plant from the bottom up. To fight against this we invest in the highest quality soil amendments on the market and add these amendments liberally to each of our mixes.
